Internship Program
CANN2ONET internships provide students and early career researchers with opportunities to gain hands-on experience working at the intersection of agricultural sustainability, greenhouse gas mitigation, and climate-smart agriculture. Through collaborations with industry, government, and research partners, interns contribute to real-world projects focused on topics such as nitrogen management, carbon markets, soil carbon, and agricultural emissions reduction strategies. These optional internships are designed to build practical skills in research, data analysis, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement, while exposing participants to the challenges and opportunities associated with developing sustainable solutions for Canadian agriculture.

Field to File: Practical Techniques for Greenhouse Gas, Soil, and Ecosystem Measurement
When: Sunday, June 21, 2026 from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
Where: University of Guelph Alex 265
The workshop will provide students and early-career researchers with a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to environmental data collection in agricultural and natural ecosystems. Hosted at the University of Guelph as part of CSSS 2026, the workshop will feature expert-led sessions and live demonstrations from industry leaders including Campbell Scientific, Hoskin Scientific, and LI-COR Environmental. Participants will gain practical experience with greenhouse gas monitoring systems, soil and plant measurement tools, eddy covariance instrumentation, and data acquisition technologies used in field research and greenhouse gas accounting.
